Godetia Pink to Red, Clarkia. 1000 Seeds Free Shipping!
Godetia Pink to Red, also known as Rembrandt, is an improved variety of a native wildflower found in western North America, with a natural range extending from California to British Columbia. This flower belongs to the Clarkia genus, named in honor of Captain William Clark, an important pioneer in the Lewis and Clark Expedition. As a member of the Evening Primrose family, Godetia is celebrated for its vibrant blooms that attract bees and other pollinators.
This variety features striking flowers that range in color from soft pink to rich red, providing a beautiful gradient effect when mass planted. Godetia Pink to Red thrives in sunny locations and works exceptionally well as a colorful border or in wildflower gardens. Its bright colors create a vivid contrast when growing among grasses and other native plants.
Godetia prefers well-drained soils with low to moderate nutrient levels and is adaptable to sandy, alkaline, and even slightly saline soils. When planted in rich, nutrient-dense soil, the plant tends to produce more foliage but fewer flowers.
The seeds germinate best in cooler weather, and the plant does not tolerate hot or humid climates well. Temperatures consistently above 80°F (27°C) can inhibit flowering and cause the plant to fail. Due to its delicate root system, Godetia does not transplant well and is best started outdoors by direct sowing, either in the ground or in containers left in place.
For gardeners in western North America, fall planting is ideal to take advantage of cooler and wetter conditions. In colder or eastern regions, sow seeds in early spring after the last frost. Godetia also makes an excellent cut flower, with long-lasting blooms that add charm and color to floral arrangements.
