Astrophytum Capricorne aka Goats Horns 5 Seeds Free Shipping!
Goat's Horn is a cool round cactus that has white speckles and spines resembling cat whiskers. During summer, it produces fragrant yellow flowers with red throats. This little cactus is ideal for a windowsill and only reaches about a foot tall even in the garden.
Astrophytum hails from Northern Mexico and prefers milder conditions compared to most cacti. It's great for zones 9-11, thriving in light shade to full sun, and can withstand temperatures down to about 20 degrees F.
As the plant matures, it develops more spines, but they remain relatively sparse, flexible, and delicate. Be sure to handle the plant with care to avoid breaking them off. They look really cool.
To germinate the seeds, scarify the tough seed coat and soak them in warm water for at least 24 hours; you should notice the seed coats puffing up or swelling. Surface sow the seeds, lightly covering them with soil. Use plastic wrap and a rubber band to cover the pot, which helps retain heat and moisture. Place it in a warm, sunny spot, keeping the soil moist but not overly wet. Once you see seedlings, you can remove the plastic wrap.
